The strictness of forest protection in Europe
- By definition, forest refers to a land area spanning more that 0.5 hectares with trees higher than 5 meters and a canopy cover of more than 10%. It corresponds the area of productive and half of the area of low-productive forest in the Finnish definition.
- The main target in all classes of protection is safeguarding biodiversity.
