The eye-catching Wuud cladding panels only consist of wood, which is why they are also highly eco-friendly and recyclable.
On the global scale, the construction industry is one of the biggest sources of carbon dioxide emissions. Emissions are caused by both the construction activity and the manufacturing of construction materials.
Both in Finland and elsewhere in the world, the appreciation of wood as a more eco-friendly construction material is increasing. Wood is being used not only to replace materials that cause more emissions, but also to create more amenable living environments.
The Finnish Wuud brand wants to create new potential for the use of wood as a construction material. The project funded by Aalto University and Business Finland has developed an embossed cladding panel for both indoor and outdoor use.
The Wuud panels attract attention with their colours and textures. They are unique thanks to the cost-effective and ecological manufacturing process, based on the compression and expansion of the wood with steam. The process uses no chemicals and does not change the structure or composition of the wood. The panels can be recycled like any other wood material.
The panels may be re-used either as they are or in another form, or they may be burned for energy or used as biocarbon through pyrolysis.
The raw material of Wuud is Finnish birch, aspen, alder and pine.
