The Tammela Stadium and the Ilves football team want to be pioneers of responsible consumption, and a solution was created by MM Kotkamills and Pyroll Packaging.
Eco-conscious consumers want to see ecological packagings even when snacking in the bleachers. MM Kotkamills and Pyroll Packaging collaborated to create a line of cartonboard serving dishes for the Tammela Stadium in Tampere, home pitch of the Ilves men’s football team playing in the first-tier Veikkausliiga.
The new food and beverage packagings are visually interesting. Thanks to digital printing, the packagings can be tailored for use at specific events.
Easy to recycle, the packagings are made of folding boxboard and paperboard designed for cups, manufactured by MM Kotkamills. The wood material used comes from sustainably managed, certified forests.
After use, the paperboard packagings are recycled, enabling the wood fibre in them to be used as raw material for other paper or cartonboard products. According to a study by the Graz University of Technology in Austria, the wood fibre in cartonboard can be recycled up to 25 times after its first use. Recycling is easy and costs little, since these cartonboards do not contain a PE coating that would require a separation process. Some of the cartonboards used for this line are also biodegradable.
’Developing these packagings strengthens Finnish know-how and collaboration, and supports the desire to do things better and more responsibly. At the same time, the packagings are visually attractive to the customer and help promote the collective spirit at events,’ say MM Kotkamills.
