Kotkamills developed a plastic free packing material for fast food

Kotkamills, a company specialized in packaging, brings a new, plastic free packaging material on the market. The material is suitable for packaging of, for example, greasy foods, sandwiches, bakery products and frozen products. Aegle Barrier Light cardboard has a biodegradable layer, which is grease and water proof and is based on water dispersion technology.

The product contains no plastic, no fluorochemicals nor waxes. It can be recycled along with normal cardboard recycling. Left in nature, the product decays quickly. Also printing inks can be dyed from the product.

‘We believe that in the future, packaging materials are part of sustainable, recyclable consumption. We want to be the game changer on this field and reduce the world’s waste footprint. Our packaging material is one solution to the problem,’ says Markku Hämäläinen, CEO of Kotkamills in company’s press release
Cardboard machine of Kotkamills is able to produce the novel cardboard no less than 400 000 tons annually.
